As we think about Afghanistan today, it’s crucial to understand the profound challenges the nation faces, yet also hold onto our hope and faith in God, knowing that His work among Afghans has just began.
Afghanistan is grappling with one of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises. More than two-thirds of its population requires humanitarian aid, with a significant number facing acute malnutrition and basic survival needs.
Women and girls face severe restriction on their rights and freedoms, including education, work, and even the ability to leave the house without a male chaperone.

In the face of these immense challenges, an increasing number of Afghans are making the heart-wrenching decision to leave their homeland, seeking safety and a more stable future abroad.
The journey is often perilous, marked by uncertainty and danger, yet the hope for a better life compels them to take these risks. This exodus underscores the utter desperation of many Afghans to find a better life elsewhere.

Despite these harrowing circumstances, there are glimmers hope. It has been incredible to to begin a TikTok Live show over the past few weeks, where I have dialogues with Afghans, primarily about theological and gospel issues, but I also hear their stories and their pain.
These conversations are not always emotionally easy to have, and they often weigh on our minds and souls, but there is also so much joy in sharing about the crucified Christ, who is with us in the midst of all the suffering.
I believe Afghan Theology and the Afghan church, as any faithful theology and church, must dwell on the reality of our crucified and resurrected Lord.

As Christians, our call to prayer for Afghanistan is more important than ever. It’s through prayer that we stand in solidarity with the Afghan people, and especially our Afghan brothers and sisters in Christ, seeking divine intervention for their protection, provision, and freedom.
Let us pray for a future where every Afghan has the opportunity to live in peace and dignity.
Let us pray for the Afghan church to grow through all the trials.
Let us pray that more Afghans would hear the Gospel and turn to the Lord than ever before in our history!

Thanks for your prayers for us and our team! Please check out our prayer page, where we share weekly prayer points for the people of Afghanistan.
